Gamathon 2025 - Generative AI in Game Dev

Thrilled to share the highlights from my talk on October 1st about optimizing game development with Generative AI.

It's not about theory; it's about practical results. I presented three real case studies where AI collapsed development timelines from weeks to hours:

  1. GDD in 24 Hours: A complete, production-ready Game Design Document (GDD) for a game called "Tom Brown - Poultry Farmer" was created from a simple idea in 24 hours. This involved using multiple AI models (like GPT-5 and Claude Sonnet-4) to brainstorm mechanics, design systems, and balance gameplay.
  2. Tool for Non-Technical Designers: A web-based 2D level editor was built in 12 hours. This allowed a designer with no Unity experience to start creating game levels immediately, bypassing the steep learning curve of the game engine.
  3. Game from Video in 3 Hours: A playable web-based board game, complete with AI opponents, was created in just 3 hours. The process involved using AI (Gemini) to extract the game's rules from a YouTube video and then employing an AI agent to write the code.

In the talk, I also shared my AI toolkit, including how I use @Dotted as a producer's assistant and second brain.

Huge thanks to Africacomide for hosting, and to @Oscar and @Faith for setting everything up. And a special shout-out to Klein for the initial (and hilarious) game idea!
